RE: Social security went DOWN!

For the record, SS was never designed to be one's sole support in retirement. I get tired of hearing "how does the government expect us to live on this amount." It does not and it is the person's fault if they cannot live in retirement on their total income, not the governments.

RE: Life sucks, too much Government in it.

If life sucks and there is too much government, why don't you have her quit receiving Social Security and Medicare from the government? Taking the governments money does not seem to concern you?

RE: Interest rate shock at Toyota dealer

Sea Dog--I know of no really successful Realtor who does not pre-qualify their clients before spending 2 or 3 days showing them homes? Do you want to spend 3 days showing a person homes for which they have no chance of qualifying for the loan required to purchase such a home? Of course not. You qualify them on the amount and then show them homes in their price range. The car salesman is doing the same thing so why give him such a hard time?

RE: Interest rate shock at Toyota dealer

Sea Dog--who said anything about qualifying a person by looking at him? No one!!! You qualify a person by asking questions where it be Sam Walton, Bill Gates or Freddy the Hobo. For the record, I bet Sam Walton would have taken no offense to these questions like you apparently did. Sam would have said something like "I will be paying cash or have my own financing." That is all that is required. Give these people something to work with "if you want something other than the list price." If they know you are qualified & ready to buy if the price is right, you probably will drive away that day with a vehicle." Why offer your best price to someone who is "just kicking tires until they receive their next food stamps?"

RE: Interest rate shock at Toyota dealer

Sea Dog--yes, qualify the person regardless of what they drive. One can see that you never made a living working on commission. My suggestion to you, do not try, because, yup, if you do not learn to qualify the prospect, you will waste your day and SELL NOTHING. Keep your day job.

RE: Interest rate shock at Toyota dealer

A salesman asks what payment you expect for a reason. What salesman wants to spend the day with a person who can only pay like $200 on a $25K vehicle? They do work on commission!!! And yes, they do come on the lot every day. Many lenders are charging high credit risk 21% plus AND STILL going broke because of the number of repos. Believe it or not, the past does predict the future in a high percentage of cases. If you have a credit score below 600, believe me, you have earned it at someone elses expense.

RE: Bank of America - RANT

Banks "do make money, lots of money" on people who pay their bill in full on time every month.Their profit is the percent they charge the merchant for accepting the card. Yes they make much more on people who do not pay in full by the financing charges these people pay. However, the banks also write off "huge debt" by these same people when they do not pay or go into default. Banks are looking at people who's line of use keeps going up each month and "finally" realize these are train wrecks waiting to happen. Today there is an article where the credit cards companies are going to lower the credit line of users by over a trillion dollars all in the next few months. It is not just Bank of America, all banks have finally accepted that they have allowed bad practices by consumers and yes, in some cases even encouraged them. Those days are over and frankly I am glad they are.

RE: Luckenbach Texas

They cannot keep signs that say "Luckenbach." Everyone keeps stealing them. Has been a problem for 25 years or more. Worth the trip. The country "Texas hill country" around Luckenbach and Fredricksburg are some of the prettiest in TX. My favorite area of TX.

RE: Bank of America - RANT

Let me see if I understand the problem. We complain because the banks make loans to high risk people or give high risk people large credit card limits because we are forced to bail them out when these loans go bad and most of them do go bad. Then when the banks correct this problem we "RANT." Your wife has the same problem millions of high risk people have. They continue to use the cards up until they finally cannot make the payment. The bank is not the problem. They are finally doing what they should have done years ago. Does that mean we roast them for finally making the right decision. I will not. Your wife has a problem. Aim some of that anger her way.

RE: Toyota Matrix

The Vibe can be bought cheaper than the Matrix. However, the Matrix resale value is higher used. Why? Because it says Toyota and the Vibe say Pontiac!!!

RE: Which Coach Is Better??? (College Football)

Great coaches? Where have you been? Weis will be fired at the end of this season. Want the best coach, you need to look in Norman OK and I hate the Sooners. However, he is the best and his record proves it year after year. Destroyed my Red Raiders last night.

RE: Toyota Matrix

I have an 05 Vibe. No problems at all. Now has 70K miles. At 65K had brakes pads checked. They said I had another 15K left before I needed to replace. I did replace the belt because the weather is HOT here and they will crack. Great car. The head room in this vehicle is much more than most vehicles. I also have a 08 Camry LE. The Vibe head room is at least 6" more then the Camry. Buy it and do not look back. We also buy only Toyota's (have Corolla & Tundra) and drive them all at least 200k then give them away to Father Joe. We have given him 3 vehicles in the past.

RE: Ever get shafted on eBay?

Most of the people who dislike the internet really do not understand the internet and have not researched the correct way to use it. I even bought my TT off the internet and it was even better than advertised. Do you realize that many people did not like the automobile when it first came out. No way were some of them going to give up their horse. Times are a changing and one needs to learn how to change with it or be left behind.

RE: Ever get shafted on eBay?

I disagree with the person who said "he was not a scumbag!" Yes, people like him are and always will be scumbags. A zebra does not change it's stripes. I, like another person said, buy "only" from people with multiple ratings. I look at all negative reviews then make my decision if I want to do business with this person. I love ebay. Much better than buying from a retail store.

RE: NASCAR Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway

mccastle--lets look at the past "fan favorite drivers" from the modern era with multiple years as favorite. Awesome Bill from Dawsonville won the award for years, then Earnhardt Sr now Earnhardt Jr. Now what do all these drivers have in common? That is right, deep south, unpolished and trouble with the King's English. Now lets look at two of the drivers with a combined 7 championships between them that fans love to hate, Gordon and Johnson. What do they have in common. Let see, they are polished, speak the King's English quite well and could both pass as corporate executives. Totally different contrast between the popular drivers and the drivers fans love to boo even though these two do better on the track. Could we be on to something here. That is the reason for "the image" Nascar has developed. I just placed the label the rest of the world labeled that image years ago. I like Jr but consider him only average in talent. The new kids on the block hopefully will replace that image but it will take several years. Then maybe everyone will appreciate drivers for their talent not their heritage.

RE: NASCAR Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway

mccastle--a lots of drivers are from the midwest and CA. However, you will note, not one of them has ever been voted most popular. EVER!!! In fact, few of them, example Gordon & Johnson, have been accepted even though they own 7 championships between them. Yet, a driver who has difficulty speaking the King's English and has never won a championship is voted the most popular driver year after year. Why is that? This only happens in Nascar, no other sport. I will tell you why. Because a large majority of the fans identify with him. That is not rude, only truthful. All that being said, I really like the kid, just do not understand the "hero worship."

RE: NASCAR Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway

Let me see. Johnson will be on the stage - Gordon will be on the stage-Harvick will be on the stage-and Kyle will be on the stage. Where is Jr? Now, who needs a that gold watch? Cloud Dancer, you are correct. Jordan, Tiger and others earned theirs. Jr inherited his title and to date, has done nothing with it.

RE: Do you smoke in your RV

I smoke "only" cigars, about one a day. I do not smoke in my TT, home or auto. Smoke on front or back porch while home and outside when using the TT. Smoke, especially cigar smoke stinks and really sticks up a TT, home or auto. I do not smoke around people "unless" they also smoke. Liriope

RE: NASCAR Ford 400 from Homestead-Miami Speedway

I played poker at Casino Arizona yesterday while the Nascar race was on. They have app 40 TV's in the card room. Not one was tuned to Nascar, all on one of the football games. Why? Very little interest from "most" of the card players. Now for the comment "poor JR." He was on the best team all year that had four drivers. As I predicted, he would only bet the "Third Best" driver on the team. That is exactly what he was. What other sport has a person never to have one ( a championship) as their face of the sport. None except Nascar. Jordan in basketball, Tiger in golf, Jr in Nascar, and etc.And we wonder why they call Nascar a "redneck" sport.
